City officials will appear at a town hall meeting in the Tenderloin on Thursday to talk about safety initiatives and hear from the public. Anyone is welcome to attend.
Police Chief Derrick Lew will be there, as well as Sheriff Paul Miyamoto, Fire Chief Dean Crispen, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, and Supervisor Bilal Mahmood, who will moderate the conversation. Tenderloin Police Station Captain Matt Sullivan will not attend, but a station representative will be present to address questions in his stead.
“This is an opportunity to hear directly from city leadership, share your concerns, ask questions, and learn more about the coordinated efforts underway across San Francisco to improve conditions on our streets,” Mahmood’s office said in an event announcement.
Questions are only being solicited ahead of time — in order to submit a question, members of the public must fill out an electronic RSVP form (found here) prior to the event. Mahmood’s staff noted that personal information requested on the form will not be publicly shared during the event.
At the tail-end of the event, officials will be available for one-on-one conversations with attendees.
The meeting will take place Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Foundation, 150 Golden Gate Ave.
The announcement promises an open discussion about collaborative efforts to produce a clean and safe neighborhood that works for everyone.
